The Fingal project was conceived as a response to a slower pace of living. The client wanted a home that celebrated natural materials and imperfect finishes. Spotted gum timber, hand-painted joinery, natural stone and Moroccan zellige tiles were among the selections that shaped the material narrative of the home.
The starting point was a neglected existing house that was not structurally sound in parts. The floor plan was reworked to accommodate a more generous bathroom, a defined master bedroom, and an expanded kitchen better suited to daily living.
The intention was to craft a home that feels both refined and relaxed, where materiality plays a leading role and nothing feels overworked. Natural textures, soft tonal layering and tactile finishes bring warmth and depth, allowing the interiors to feel lived-in from the outset. Each selection was guided by longevity and feel, and chosen for its ability to evolve over time
